SCAD prepares talented students for creative professions through engaged teaching and learning in a positively oriented university environment and serves over 14,000 students.
The Department of University Safety exists to ensure the safest learning environment possible through a layered and comprehensive approach to security, backed by experienced leadership. SCAD works closely with local police, fire and emergency personnel, as well as state and federal agencies, to ensure that students have a safe and open college experience.
With the support of key safety experts, SCAD has developed a proactive effort to assess and improve their public safety and security approaches. This effort has resulted in a comprehensive and layered approach to strengthening their public safety strategy. Some of these strategies include the installation of gunshot detection sensors, emergency call boxes, surveillance cameras, the LiveSafe communication tool and visible uniforms on SCAD officers to act as crime deterrents.
