Rowley, Massachusetts – December 19, 2016 – Congratulations are in order for the SDS Team, who today announced that the Guardian Indoor Active Shooter Detection System has been awarded the “Best Active Shooter Gunshot Detection Solution” in the 2016 Homeland Security Awards. This year marks the 8th annual awards program by respected print and online publisher Government Security News (GSN), known as the “Official Publication” of the Homeland Security Industries Association. SDS won as a Vendor of Physical Security Products and Solutions and the judging was based on a combination of:

  • Increase in customer base
  • Technological innovation or improvement
  • Filling a recognized government security need
  • Flexibility of solution to meet current and future organizational needs

In the category of Physical Security Access Control, Identification and Communications, 2016 marks the debut year for the category of Best Active Shooter Gunshot Detection System.

About the 2016 Homeland Security Awards, GSN lead judge Chuck Brooks said: “Each year the quality and scope of the submissions makes it more difficult to judge. They are all deserving. There are no inferior security products or services that I evaluated – they are all stellar. The approaches and methods sometimes differ among the entries and that is largely because they are highly focused on their specific client needs. As to the government entries, these submissions exemplify the best in public/private cooperation. Government is moving rapidly into the digital era and integrating technologies, processes and accordingly new mandates of their government agencies and programs.”
