8 Field-Proven Brands Win SSI Security Solutions Awards at ASIS 2017

The third annual Security Solutions Awards program – spotlighting applications in access, fire/life safety, home controls, intrusion, monitoring, surveillance and more – salutes security product deployments.

September 26, 2017 – DALLAS, TX – Security Sales & Integration has announced the winners of its third Security Solutions Awards program during the 63rd ASIS Int’l Annual Seminar and Exhibits. The program, which distinguishes those manufacturers and vendors whose electronic security solutions have been proven in the field to meet security, safety or other organizational needs for end users, named winners in seven categories.

Shooter Detection Systems won the Fire/Life Safety category of the awards as a Field-Proven solution delivered with our Certified SDS Integrator Best Security Industries, Inc. of Farmingdale, New York. The integrated solution up for the award was a case study on the Guardian Indoor Active Shooter Detection System installation at a Fortune 100 retailer in New York City. The customer’s goal was to find a proven high-performance gunshot detection solution they could trust to filter out false alerts, that would easily integrate with their existing Avigilon VMS solution, tie in to existing alarm panels for zone alerting, and be unobtrusive in design to match the aesthetic of their luxury store. One of the biggest challenges facing the security team when considering any physical security upgrades is keeping to the aesthetic of their stores. At 4×4” and benign in design, the Guardian sensors look much like a standard electric wall plate, a feature that was appealing to the customer. The customer chose the DHS SAFETY Act Certified Guardian System based on its success with enterprise customers, the zero false alert history, and ease of integration with existing security technologies.

“The real test for manufacturers’ products ― especially when dealing in the sometimes life or death realm of security and safety  ― is how they truly meet the needs of both the security integrator and their customer.” Scott Goldfine, SSI Editor-in-Chief

With the installation and integration complete, the Director and his staff can pull up a shooter’s location via video on their mobile devices no matter where they are located. The Guardian system was also tied into the store’s alarm panels to provide zone alerting to gunshots in addition to the floor plan map, SMS and e-mail alerts that go out as a part of the core Guardian System capabilities.

Shooter Detection Systems is in good company with the winners in other categories including FLIR Systems, Genetec, HID Global, Honeywell, Bosch Security Systems, and Sharp Electronics. “The real test for manufacturers’ products ― especially when dealing in the sometimes life or death realm of security and safety  ― is how they truly meet the needs of both the security integrator and their customer,” says SSI Editor-in-Chief and Associate Publisher Scott Goldfine. “How does a given device or system deliver problem-solution results in the field deployed in real-world scenarios? That is the true litmus test and why SSI founded the Security Solutions Awards. This unique program is an outstanding platform for security product suppliers to showcase their wares and a unique source for integrators to identify project solutions.”

Each submitted solution entrant was judged by a panel of experienced independent security industry professional integrators and consultants. They evaluated not only on the technical merits and ease of installation of the product or technology solution but also the ability of it to help integrators meet project bid, specification or design parameters; satisfy regulatory, compliance or code requirements; and deliver the highest level of system capabilities, features, functionality, user-friendliness, results and client satisfaction across the full range of general, niche and vertical market applications.

Congratulations to SDS Technology Partner Genetec, Inc. for the win in the Specialty Category!
